There comes a time in a sales person&#8217;s career, when <b>cold calling</b> has to be done. In all the years of selling and teaching individuals how to cold call, I have yet to meet anyone who likes it. If you&#8217;re anything like other people, you probably hate it too. And because most of us hate <b>cold calling</b>, we spend no time working on cold calling <b>tips</b>.</p>
<p>So I&#8217;ve now got some amazing cold calling <b>tips</b> for anyone who basically doesn&#8217;t have the time to practice.<span id="more-165"></span>OK, these cold calling tips are extremely powerful. All you need to do is try one or two of them next time you cold call.</p>
<ol>
<li>Cold Calling Tip: If you&#8217;re calling up a customer cold, always thank them for taking your call. This does several things. 1) It shows awareness that they are busy, (an excellent business trait that conveys professionalism). 2) It allows them to think that you will not take up their time, (even though you will . . . it will come across differently)</li>
<li>Cold Calling Tip: Never try to pitch the &#8216;Gatekeeper&#8217;! In case you&#8217;ve never heard of the word, gatekeeper, it generally refers to anyone who screens an incoming call. This can be a receptionist or even a secretary. Bottom line, they get tons of calls just like yours all day. They use phoney phrases such as, &#8216;I&#8217;m afraid he&#8217;s busy at the moment!&#8217; or &#8217;she&#8217;s away from her desk at the moment&#8217;. Or even the classic &#8211; &#8216;He&#8217;s in a meeting&#8217;! In other words &#8211; complete trash speak. So don&#8217;t think that by trying to pitch them they&#8217;ll treat you as an exception and pass you straight through. Or even leave a message for you on your behalf. Simply thank them, and move on.</li>
<li>Cold Calling Tip: When asking for an appointment, don&#8217;t ask them &#8216;Do you have your diary available?&#8217; Instead, use the phrase, &#8216;I&#8217;m looking at the morning of July 14th, its a Monday. How&#8217;s that for you?&#8217; This works 98% of the time because they will most likely say, &#8220;Can&#8217;t do that day, but I can do the Tuesday&#8221;. The reason it works is you&#8217;ve given them a clear indication that you are serious, and have given them a concise date. It&#8217;s not wishy-washy and easy to overcome.</li>
</ol>

<p>It is well known that <strong><b>Cold Calling</b></strong> and <b>Telemarketing</b> are not as easy as they look. <b>Telemarketing</b> involves talking on the phone to a particular person you don&#8217;t know and looking to convince them to buy a product, start using a service, or register for a special offer. Frequently, telemarketers fail because they are not performing the role properly.</p>
<p>Communicating is a skill, where there are approaches that can be applied to conversing that will help anyone become a highly effective cold caller. Here are five ways to productive <b>telemarketing</b>, and in return – <b>cold calling</b>.</p>
<p>Tip #1: Motivation. One of the most significant things in telemarketing is motivation. Someone has to want to do the task. The overall willingness will determine how they communicate with people. So, profitable <strong>telemarketers</strong> are incredibly motivated to do the job.</p>
<p>Tip #2: Learn the call structure. The telemarketer needs to have a call structure or a call plan. They have to fully understand the order of the call: the intro, the description of the product or service, the price tag, the value of the product or service, how to order, and also closing. Lots of organizations will have a <b>script</b> to follow. A successful telemarketer will know the <b>script</b> and use it to their advantage.</p>
<p>Tip #3: Product knowledge. In an effort to successfully speak about a product, the telemarketer really should know about the product. Individuals may ask questions before they buy or join for something, and so the telemarketer will ideally be able to answer the questions. Being familiar with the product or service will help the telemarketer complete a effective deal.</p>
<p>Tip #4: Mental attitude. Attitude is evident over the telephone. When somebody is cheerful and excited, those emotions will come across, even over the phone. Angry, irritated, or frustrated telemarketers are usually not successful. So, the effective <strong>cold calling</strong> telemarketer should have a pleasant attitude while doing their job.</p>
<p>Tip #5: Understand the buyer. A good telemarketer will know the client. Know if it is a decent time to call. Calling during dinner, early in the morning, or late in the evening is not going to be successful. If you call at a bad time, ask the client when a more desirable time to call would be. Recognize what they&#8217;re looking for. You should never try to sell them something they are not interested in. This will create antagonism. Listen to everything that the prospect has to say. Their comments and suggestions could help you guide the course of your call.</p>

<p>Cold Call is a method of sales in which the sales personal or the  marketer calls or visits someone who is not expecting to be contacted.  After the rise of internet services and online social media networking  many businesses at once thought that <b>cold calling</b> is an obsolete method  of making business and it is no more capable of bringing sales to a  business.<span id="more-128"></span></p>
<p>Companies stopped using the method of <b>cold calling</b> and  started e-marketing and sales. However, the businesses were able to  generate a sizable profit but they felt that they were still lacking  behind in some way. Soon they realized that they must use the cold  calling method for sales and marketing. No doubt internet marketing and  e-selling are at their peak but <b>cold calling</b> is still an important tool  for generating profit especially for the small businesses. Following are  some <b>tips</b> which can help small businesses to make successful cold  calls.</p>
<p>1.	Focus on your goals<br />
While making cold calls marketers and sellers think that their main  focus is to make sales. This is not true. The main focus of cold calling  must be to get a change to make sale. The small businesses must define  their goal of cold calling and then try to achieve that goal.</p>
<p>2.	Do research about the target market<br />
It is really important to do research about the target market. What  are the needs and wants of the target market and what will provide  maximum satisfaction to them is really important here. If a marketer or a  seller knows well about the requirements and needs of the target market  he can turn the cold call into a business transaction.</p>
<p>3.	Do not be aggressive but direct<br />
It is really important to make the opening statement an effective  one. And this could only happen if the marketer or the seller of the  product talks effectively. He must not be aggressive in speaking and his  delivery style must be straight forward. The receiver of the phone call  or the person meeting face to face to the cold caller must not get the  feel that the marketer is aggressive or he is telling stories about the  product or service.</p>
<p>4.	Taking your companies name<br />
This is one of the most important <b>tips</b> for cold calling. More than  half of the cold calls fail to get the potential customers at once. This  is because not everyone will need that product or service at the time a  marketer or sales rep. makes the cold call. Taking the name of the  company will make the customer remember your companies name, product or  service and at the time when a customer&#8217;s need rises he will surely  contact the sales rep.</p>
<p>5.	Keep record and be flexible<br />
Keeping record of each person to whom the marketer have called or  met is really important. One must keep know how about whom he is calling  and what was the discussion that took place is really important.  Moreover, it is really important to be flexible. Sometimes the person at  the other end does not want to talk or his/her behavior is a bit  different, Therefore, the cold calling marketer or the seller must be  flexible enough to adopt the new way of interacting with people of  different kinds.</p>
<p>However, it is really tough to attract the  customers by cold calling but if done perfectly then it produces a lot  of profit for the Small as well as big businesses.</p>

The article was about David Rosen. He sells $500,000 worth of wine a year to private individuals across the country. This guy loves and lives on making cold calls.<span id="more-126"></span></p>
<p>David is extremely enthusiastic about his work and about the wine he sells. Aside from his enthusiasm I really like the simplicity of his approach and that&#8217;s what I want to share with you.</p>
<p>Now get this, his first question to his sales prospect is, &#8220;Do you like wine?&#8221; It&#8217;s elegant simplicity &#8211; isn&#8217;t it?</p>
<p>Look, I realize unless you sell wine, you can&#8217;t use this question. What you can do is create a question that works like David&#8217;s question in your business.</p>
<p>Among other things, I sell sales training programs emphasizing No-brainer selling skills. If I am talking with the sales prospect I certainly wouldn&#8217;t ask a question, &#8220;Do you like wine?&#8221;</p>
<p>However, I could ask, &#8220;Are you a salespeople overtrained?&#8221; Another way to ask this question is, &#8220;How many of your salespeople are overtrained?&#8221;</p>
<p>It took me five minutes to create these questions. I&#8217;m sure I can think of even better questions to ask and the point is so can you. Where do you find your leads in your business? You should give this serious thought and maybe even take a page from David Rosen&#8217;s book.</p>
<p>Rosen reads the letters columns of wine magazines, searches wine blogs, and does creative Google searches for new leads. He&#8217;s good at doing his homework which the Internet makes a lot easier.</p>
<p>Another <b>cold calling</b> sales tip from David Rosen involves gatekeepers. He says, &#8220;Don&#8217;t feel the need to get past the gatekeeper the first time.&#8221;</p>
<p>He uses this first call to collect information. After several attempts to reach a person you might leave a voicemail message introducing himself as that &#8220;persistently optimistic wine guide before leaving his elevator speech and his telephone number.</p>
<p>I believe this next sales tip is extremely important. Rosen says &#8220;You should learn your <b>script</b> then ditch it.&#8221; Impossible to sound professional when you&#8217;re rambling.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s something else Rosen does not you might the able to adapt to your business. He promises to send an e-mail follow-up restating his services.
